The bill (Reg. No. 4679) suggests excluding a possibility of imposing of life imprisonment on women and persons who are being accused of preparing or of an attempt to commit a crime, and accomplices who are not perpetrators of a crime. Respective amendments are to be made to articles 64 and 68 of the Criminal Code.

The bill suggests applying articles 81 and 82 of the Criminal Code to the sentenced to life imprisonment.

The document expands rights of the sentenced to life imprisonment to money management, and also provide them with an opportunity to receive short-term and long-term meetings. Respective amendments shall be made to articles 151 and 154 of the Criminal Executive Code.

It was mentioned during the discussion that the bill aims at systematic settlement of problematic issues connected with imposing of life imprisonment.

Members of the Committee upheld the bill, adoption of which will help protect rights and legal interests of the sentenced to life imprisonment and members of their families.
